Meet the Author: Joe Manausa
Joe Manausa is a Tallahassee, Florida native and United States Military Academy at West Point graduate, who served in the United States Army as an Airborne, Ranger, Infantry officer. He led a platoon of forty soldiers in the Republic of Panama during Operation Just Cause and was awarded the Combat Infantryman’s badge.
Today, he is the CEO of a real estate brokerage in Florida that has undergone a successful transformation from a traditional brick and mortar business to one that relies heavily on digital marketing.
One of the reasons that Joe wrote The Business of Getting Business is because it’s the guide he wished he had when he started his own transformation from traditional to digital marketing more than a decade ago. This is the book that will help successful small business owners from every industry make the transition as well.
Joe has owned an managed a real estate company since 1992 and has seen his industry change significantly during that time.
Prior to the internet, real estate marketing was heavily reliant on newspapers, magazines, yard signs, and networking. The traditional marketing methods employed by the most successful real estate brokers was strikingly similar, and very little innovation occurred since the popularization of television. But oh how things changed.
By 2005, many homebuyers and sellers were using the internet to look at properties listed for sale. In 2007, a friend advised Joe that he should be blogging, and so on July 1, 2007, Joe decided to give blogging (content creation) a 30-day trial. He figured after 30 days, he would know if there was any merit in creating content for the internet.
After those first 30 days, Joe did not see much traction, but he did see his writing style improved and more people were noticing, so Joe committed to extend the trial for another 30 days. After 60 days of creating content, Joe was hooked. In fact, he writes a daily blog article on weekdays and has not missed a day, holidays included, since that first day of July in 2007.
Joe has published thousands of articles on his website, and thousands more on websites all over the internet. He has been interviewed and featured by many large newspapers, and he is often quoted about real estate market conditions in his local market area.

He has received several industry awards along the way, including being listed on the Forbes 5000 and being named among the top 100 most influential real estate agents in Florida.
Joe is married to Michelle Manausa, his beautiful wife of more than 25 years. They have three children: Sami, a graduate of the University of Florida, Max, a student at Florida State University, and Joey, a student at Leon High School.
